Bank of Baroda has launched *bob SAMVAD*, an industry-first AI-powered conversational platform designed to eliminate language barriers at its branches. The entirely in-house developed tool enables real-time, two-way communication across 22 Indian languages with low latency and contextual accuracy.
The platform allows customers to speak or input queries in their preferred language, which is instantly translated for staff members and vice versa. Interactions are displayed on screen with an optional voice mode that converts text to speech, catering to customers who prefer audio communication.
DFS Secretary M. Nagaraju praised the initiative for promoting inclusive and accessible service delivery, calling it a new benchmark for the banking sector. Managing Director Dr Debadatta Chand emphasized the bank's commitment to operational excellence through technology and customer-centric design.
In its first phase, *bob SAMVAD* will be deployed across 250 branches in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra, followed by a phased rollout across the bank's entire branch network.
