Bengaluru-based startup Sarvam AI has launched *Indus*, an AI chatbot application designed specifically for Indian users. Available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store, the app operates on a waitlist system requiring invite codes for full access.
*Indus* distinguishes itself through robust support for multiple Indian languages including Hindi and English, allowing users to switch between languages within the same conversation. The app features voice command capabilities, web search functionality, and several productivity tools including AI agents for task automation, file upload support for PDFs and images, and integrated writing tools.
The application is reportedly powered by Sarvam's recently introduced large language models, *Sarvam-30B* and *Sarvam-105B*, unveiled at the India AI Impact Summit 2026. This could make *Indus* one of the first major consumer AI applications in India built on homegrown AI technology.
With its India-focused approach and strong regional language support, *Indus* aims to compete with established global platforms like ChatGPT and Google Gemini while serving the specific needs of Indian users across students, professionals, and everyday consumers.
