Kerala's Cultural Affairs Department has unveiled plans for a world-class cultural park dedicated to Jnanpith laureate MT Vasudevan Nair, the celebrated Malayalam writer who redefined the art of storytelling in the language before his death on December 26, 2025, at age 91.
Announced by Chief Minister V D Satheesan in the revised *Budget speech for 2026-27*, the park - to be located in Kozhikode - will go beyond a conventional memorial. Officials at a round-table chaired by Minister P C Vishnunadh envisioned it as an immersive experience centre blending literature, cinema, art and technology, allowing visitors to "experience" rather than merely "see" MT's creative universe.
Proposed features include museums on language and literature, a digital archive, VR and AR-enabled exhibits, a library, and international writers' residencies. The initiative aims to showcase Malayalam's literary heritage globally while engaging younger, tech-savvy audiences, positioning the park as an enduring international platform for Malayalam letters and culture.
