Prof. Anita Tyagi, newly appointed Dean of the Faculty of Linguistics at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, has unveiled an ambitious roadmap to broaden the institution's language offerings. Speaking to *The Lucknow Tribune*, she said the faculty intends to become a hub for quality teaching, research and modern language education, building on the existing postgraduate programme in English and 18 newly approved courses under the Multilingual Centre.
A key priority is upgrading foreign language instruction - Mandarin, French, Spanish and German - into full two-year programmes that take learners from basic A1-A2 levels to more advanced B1 and B1+ proficiency. This effort, she noted, is closely tied to the *National Education Policy 2020*'s vision of multilingual education, emphasising trained teachers, research and employability.
Prof. Tyagi, who has over three decades of teaching experience and has authored more than ten books, has long worked on women's education and empowerment. She thanked Vice-Chancellor Prof. Anil Kumar Rai for the appointment and pledged to strengthen the study of Indian and foreign languages alike.
