The Africa Regional Hindi Conference convened in Cairo on February 8-9, 2026, organized by the Embassy of India in collaboration with Ain Shams University. Under the theme *"Hindi for Cultural Connectivity and Cooperation from the Ganges to the Nile,"* the conference brought together Hindi scholars, professors, and educators from Kenya, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Tanzania, Mauritius, Nigeria, and South Africa, alongside academics from Egyptian universities.
The event was inaugurated by Ambassador Suresh K. Reddy, Neena Malhotra from India's Ministry of External Affairs, and Vice President Rami Mehar Ghali of Ain Shams University. The gathering emphasized India's cultural diplomacy philosophy of *Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam* - the world as one family.
Academic sessions explored Hindi's role in cultural connectivity, international relations, Indian cinema's global influence, and the language's future in the age of technology and artificial intelligence. The conference concluded with commitments to advance Hindi teaching and research across Africa through institutional partnerships, faculty exchanges, and student mobility programmes, marking a significant step in strengthening India-Africa cultural relations.
