A joint delegation representing the Bodo Sahitya Sabha, the United Bodo People's Organisation, and the Bodo Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council met with Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on 8 July 2026 to discuss community concerns ahead of the 66th Bodo Sahitya Sabha Conference.
The Bodo Sahitya Sabha, founded in 1952, has historically advocated for Bodo-language education and cultural recognition. Bodo received associate official language status in Assam in 2003, and the 2020 *Bodo Accord* further expanded self-governance and cultural recognition for the community. The meeting signals continued institutional engagement on linguistic rights and Bodo-medium education.
With Cabinet Minister Biswajit Daimary leading the Conference Reception Committee, observers will watch for resolutions on Bodo-language education, council funding, and administrative autonomy. Follow-up decisions in the Assam Legislative Assembly on Bodo-medium schooling and budgetary allocations will indicate the government's response to the delegation's language and welfare concerns under the *Bodo Accord* framework.
