The Dalgado Konknni Akademi recently honored seven distinguished individuals at the Dalgado Puroskar 2025 ceremony held at Ravindra Bhavan in Margao. The awards recognized exceptional contributions to Konkani literature in Roman script and Goan cultural heritage.
This year marked the introduction of the lifetime achievement award - Dalgado Jivon Gourov Puroskar - presented to Tomazinho Cardozo. Other recipients included Vincy Quadros for literary excellence, Fr Alfred Judas Vas for service, and Platilda Afonso e Dias for cultural contributions.
Chief guest Rev Fr Manuel Gomes emphasized the need to digitalize literature in the current age while protecting Romi Konkani. He acknowledged declining readership but encouraged continued effort to preserve the language.
DKA President Celso Fernandes called for collective action to promote Romi Konkani, stressing that this work doesn't require official positions but rather the application of individual talents in service to the language.
