The third World Telugu Conference in Guntur has marked a significant milestone with the participation of Mauritius President Dharam Gokhool, making him the first sitting head of state to attend the conference dedicated to preserving the Telugu language.
President Gokhool and his wife received a grand welcome, including a ceremonial chariot escort to the main stage. The prestigious gathering was presided over by Ghazal Srinivas, President of the Andhra Saraswata Parishad, and attended by notable dignitaries including Legislative Assembly Speaker Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu, High Court Judge Justice N. Jayasurya, and MLA Mandali Buddha Prasad.
A key ceremonial moment involved President Gokhool offering floral tributes to the Telugu Thalli statue installed on stage, honoring the symbolic representation of the Telugu language and culture. The conference featured engaging cultural programmes throughout the day, showcasing Andhra literature, history, and heritage through performances by local children, celebrating the region's rich cultural legacy.
