At an event celebrating Tulu heritage in Mangaluru, Kishore Alva stressed the importance of a unified approach involving government, community organizations, and the private sector to preserve the ancient Tulu language and Tulunadu's rich cultural identity.
Alva noted the encouraging trend of growing national and international interest in Tulu language and culture. He emphasized that such interest must be channeled through systematic efforts to document, showcase, and sustain the region's unique heritage.
A notable initiative announced during the event involves collaborating with the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy to create visual representations highlighting Tulu language and culture at Mangaluru International Airport. This project aims to introduce visitors and travelers to Tulunadu's heritage.
The event also honored senior photographer Yajna for his significant documentation of old Mangaluru through black-and-white photography. His work was recognized as providing valuable historical insights and serving as an important cultural archive. Yajna received the Chavadi Tammana award from the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy for his contributions.
