Jammu University Launches Computational Sanskrit Workshop

The Department of Sanskrit at the University of Jammu inaugurated a seven-day national workshop on *Computational Sanskrit - Basic Level* through an online platform. The program aims to equip research scholars, students, and teachers with skills integrating Sanskrit with modern computational technologies and Artificial Intelligence.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Umesh Rai emphasized that Computational Sanskrit plays a significant role in establishing India's knowledge tradition globally. Prof Subhash Chandra from Delhi University, the keynote speaker, elaborated on fundamental concepts of Computational Sanskrit and highlighted the scientific nature of Sanskrit and its relevance in Natural Language Processing (NLP).

Prof Satish Kapoor from Central Sanskrit University stressed the importance of preserving and promoting Sanskrit through modern technological platforms, noting that computational approaches are essential for making Sanskrit accessible to younger generations in the digital era.

The workshop featured lectures on *Computational Sanskrit and Artificial Intelligence: Empowering Indian Knowledge System* and *Introduction to Sanskrit Computational Linguistics: Research Trends and Future Opportunities*, covering both technological integration and future research prospects.
