The Karnataka Development Authority has raised alarm over the potential closure of Kannada-medium schools in Goa that have operated for decades. KDA chief Bilimale has written to Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, requesting urgent intervention to protect these institutions.

The schools serve as vital centers for Kannada-speaking communities in Goa, providing mother tongue education and preserving linguistic rights. Bilimale emphasized that these institutions represent more than just education - they embody Karnataka's cultural heritage in the neighboring state.

The appeal highlights concerns about linguistic diversity and minority language rights in India. Bilimale has called for high-level discussions between Karnataka and Goa governments to resolve the matter, warning that closure would represent a significant setback for the Kannada community's educational and cultural interests in Goa.
