The 95th annual session of the Srimanta Sankardev Sangha witnessed massive attendance at the Jyoti-Bishnu Samannay Khetra in Tezpur, with devotees participating in spiritual discourses and organizational meetings.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who inaugurated the event, praised Srimanta Sankardev for uniting Assamese society through *Ek Saran Naam Dharma*, a movement inspired by the broader Bhakti Movement. He highlighted Sankardev's use of art and literature to propagate neo-Vaishnavism across Assam.
The CM announced several financial commitments, including Rs 2 crore for translating works of Sankardev and Madhabdev into various Indian languages, three years of salary support for Srimanta Sankardev University staff, and Rs 12 crore for constructing Namghars across regional committees, plus Rs 1 crore specifically for the Tezpur Zilla Namghar.
The session was attended by prominent political and Sangha leaders, reflecting the organization's continued cultural significance in Assam as it approaches its centenary celebration.
