OBC Delegation Demands Dogri Department at Jammu University

A delegation of the Other Backward Classes community, led by PDP leader Dr. Rohit Gupta, met with the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu to address long-pending issues affecting OBC families in Jammu and Kashmir. Among various concerns, the delegation prominently demanded the immediate operationalization of the Dogri Department at the Central University of Jammu.

The delegation emphasized that despite receiving approval, the Dogri Department remains non-functional, depriving students of higher educational opportunities in the region's mother tongue. This issue was presented alongside other concerns including the removal of "Rural Only" tags for certain OBC castes, income certificate requirements, adequate OBC representation in government bodies, and inclusion of an OBC column in the ongoing Census.

The Divisional Commissioner assured the delegation of a sympathetic examination of the issues and forwarding them to appropriate authorities for action. Dr. Gupta expressed hope for expeditious resolution of these matters that have awaited attention for years.
