Rajasthan Completes Dictionary of Regional Dialects

Rajasthan's Education Minister Madan Dilawar announced the completion of a comprehensive dictionary covering dialects spoken across all regions of the state, marking a significant step toward preserving linguistic heritage and implementing the *National Education Policy (NEP) 2020*.

The initiative supports the policy's vision of providing foundational education in students' mother tongue and local dialects, making early education more accessible and culturally rooted through regional languages. This move reflects the state government's commitment to promoting linguistic diversity while modernizing educational infrastructure.

Speaking at a felicitation ceremony in New Delhi, Dilawar also outlined Rajasthan's broader educational achievements, including rising from 14th to 4th position nationally in NITI Aayog's education rankings. The minister emphasized the importance of preserving regional linguistic identity while embracing modern educational technologies.

The dialect dictionary project represents a crucial resource for implementing mother tongue-based education across Rajasthan's nearly 65,000 government schools, where over 72 lakh students are enrolled. This aligns with NEP 2020's emphasis on multilingual education and cultural preservation.
