Rajasthan Governor Pushes Marathi Study Centres

Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde has directed the establishment of *Classical Marathi Language Study Centres* across universities in the state, prompting sharp criticism from AICC General Secretary Sachin Pilot. The Governor's Secretariat has sent letters to all state universities to initiate the process.

Pilot criticized the move as a distraction from pressing education sector issues, questioning the Education Minister's priorities and alleging that the government has failed in education, healthcare, and law enforcement. He suggested the initiative lacked substance and diverted attention from improving educational infrastructure.

The development follows Maharashtra's June announcement making Marathi compulsory from Classes 1 to 10 in all schools statewide. Maharashtra Education Minister Dada Bhuse emphasized the state's commitment to promoting Marathi and warned of strict action against non-compliant institutions.

The proposal has sparked debate about language policy priorities in Rajasthan's higher education system.
