Swiggy has launched voice-led ordering across its platforms in partnership with Sarvam AI, marking a significant step toward conversational commerce in India. The feature, powered by Sarvam's *Indus* voice assistant, enables users to order food, shop on Instamart, and book restaurants through DineOut using natural speech in 11 Indian languages.
The service is designed to increase digital inclusion, particularly for users more comfortable with regional languages than English. Sarvam's AI models are trained on extensive Indian-language datasets, supporting Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Marathi, and other languages.
A notable innovation is the system's accessibility beyond smartphone apps. Users can place orders through phone calls, with functionality available even in low-connectivity areas. Integration with Razorpay enables seamless payment processing within the voice or chat interface.
This initiative reflects Swiggy's broader focus on AI-driven commerce and represents an industry shift toward more natural, human-feeling interfaces that could significantly drive digital adoption across India's diverse markets.
