The Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Kannada (CESCK) organized a two-day state-level workshop on *Kannada Inscriptions in Karnataka and Beyond* at the Central Institute of Indian Languages in Mysuru. The event brings together prominent epigraphists from across South India to examine Kannada inscriptions discovered not only in Karnataka but also in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala.

Prof. D.V. Paramashivamurthy emphasized that these inscriptions are crucial for understanding ancient Karnataka's cultural linkages, art, architecture, and provincial administration with neighboring regions. Most inscriptions are land and grant charters (Dana Shasanas) that reveal social welfare practices beyond mere ritualistic adherence.

Prof. Srinivas Padigar presented inscriptions from historic sites including the Kudaveli Sangameshwara Temple in Alampur and the Kailasanathar Temple in Kanchipuram. He noted that while publications like *Kannada Inscriptions of Andhra Pradesh* exist, certain editorial corrections are still needed.

The workshop facilitates comparative studies of religious conflicts, heroism traditions, and political affairs as expressed in Kannada inscriptions across different regions.
