Assam Governor Hails Sanskrit as "Language of the Future" at Gauhati University Memorial Lecture

At the Acharya Jogiraj Basu Memorial Lecture held at Gauhati University, Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya emphasized Sanskrit's relevance in contemporary education, describing it as a "language of the future" rather than merely a historical relic.

The event, organized by the Department of Sanskrit in collaboration with the Professor Umakanta Deva Sharma Foundation, featured Mahāmahopādhyāya Bhadreshdas Swami delivering a lecture on "The Aesthetic Beauty of Upaniṣadic Dialogue."

Vice Chancellor Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta discussed Upaniṣadic concepts and traditional knowledge frameworks, highlighting their continued relevance in modern academia. The gathering also witnessed Prof. Ramesh Kumar Pandey receiving the prestigious "Sanskrit Ratna" honor for his contributions to Sanskrit promotion.

The commemoration included the release of the Acharya Umakanta Deva Sharma Commemoration Volume, bringing together scholars, researchers and students to celebrate Sanskrit's enduring intellectual tradition.
