Assam's literary excellence earned national recognition as two writers from the state won the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award 2025. Devabrat Das received the award in the Assamese language category for his novel *Karhi Khelar Sadhu*, which the jury unanimously selected from eleven recommended books for its literary depth and artistic excellence. Sahaisuli Brahma won in the Bodo language category for his novel *Dwngnwi Lama Mwnse Gathwn*, reflecting the vibrancy of Bodo literature.

The Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters, announced awards across 24 Indian languages, covering diverse genres including poetry, novels, short stories, essays, and memoirs. The formal presentation will take place on March 31, 2026, in New Delhi, where each awardee will receive a copper plaque, shawl, and ₹1 lakh cash prize.

This recognition underscores Assam's significant contribution to India's multilingual literary heritage and demonstrates the growing national prominence of regional languages in the country's cultural landscape.
