Rushani's innovative approach to introducing children to Tamil culture centers on reimagining Thirukkural, an ancient Tamil text, for contemporary young readers. Her books tackle real-world challenges including karma, bullying, and family dynamics while acknowledging that some classical perspectives require modern recontextualization.
The author deliberately designed her work to transcend regional and linguistic boundaries. By including Tamil vocabulary with translations, she makes the texts accessible to children from diverse backgrounds, clarifying distinctions between Indian and Tamil cultures that often blur in popular understanding.
Since launching in January 2025, Rushani's project has expanded rapidly. A podcast featuring 40-45 minute episodes meets children where they consume media today. Her books are available across 14 countries on Amazon, with physical copies at Kuralangadi in Chennai. Rushani hopes her work inspires others to create culturally rooted stories, positioning Kural Inspired Stories as a bridge between ancient wisdom and contemporary childhood experiences.
