Mandd Sobhann, celebrating its Ruby Jubilee, has launched an invitation and fundraising campaign for the *First World Konkani Music Mega Convention*, a landmark event aimed at showcasing Konkani language and culture on a global stage.
The launch ceremony, held at Mangalore Club, was inaugurated by Rev. Fr Faustine Lobo, who praised Mandd Sobhann's decades-long commitment to preserving the Konkani mother tongue. President Louis J. Pinto outlined ambitious plans, including a Guinness World Record attempt involving over 6,000 singers from Hindu, Muslim, and Christian communities worldwide, with 300 teams performing 5,000 songs.
Budgeted at ₹3 crore, the convention will go beyond music performances to include symposia on the history and future of Konkani music, cultural exhibitions, a Hall of Fame, and felicitation of senior artists. The event underscores Konkani speakers' efforts to unite globally in celebration of their shared linguistic heritage, with community support - financial and otherwise - being actively sought to realize this historic initiative.
