At a special delegates' meeting in Morigaon, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaurav Gogoi sharply criticized attempts to recognize Hindi as an official language in the state's Legislative Assembly. He argued that if any language beyond Assamese, English, and Bodo were to gain official status, priority should be given to indigenous tribal languages such as Tiwa and Karbi.

Gogoi alleged that the BJP government's *One Nation, One Religion, One Language* ideology leaves no space for the traditions, culture, and languages of indigenous tribes. He claimed the government's primary objective is to deprive tribal communities of their land rights in favor of industrialists.

The meeting, attended by former ministers, MPs, and legislators, also addressed broader governance issues including education, healthcare, and economic policies. Gogoi called upon party workers to unite and build public opinion against what he termed the BJP government's misrule, announcing that local leadership would play a crucial role in selecting candidates for upcoming Panchayat and Municipal elections.
