The Reserve Bank of India has launched a new initiative to promote original Hindi-language scholarship in economics, banking, and finance. Under the *Scheme for writing books originally in Hindi on economics/banking/financial subjects*, the central bank aims to encourage academic writing in Hindi rather than relying solely on translations from English.
The scheme is open to current and retired professors from UGC-recognized Indian universities who have authored at least one book of minimum 200 pages originally written in Hindi on relevant subjects. Only books published between April 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026, will be eligible for consideration.
To ensure wider participation, the scheme includes a cooling-off provision: authors who receive the award for two consecutive years must skip the third year but regain eligibility in the fourth year. This initiative represents a significant step toward strengthening Hindi as a language of scholarly discourse in technical and financial fields.
