The Kerala Police has become the first state force to integrate the central government's "Bhashini" language-AI platform with its Integrated Core Policing System (iCoPS), marking a significant step in digital policing.
Officers can now prepare FIRs, case diaries, statements, and official documents using speech-to-text technology instead of manual typing. The system supports voice input in Malayalam and includes a transliteration feature to convert English letters to Malayalam script, streamlining documentation processes.
A key advantage of "Bhashini" is its reliance on domestic infrastructure rather than foreign services, ensuring complete data security for sensitive police records. This integration is expected to save considerable time in report preparation and enable field officers to record information in real time.
The move aligns with efforts to make Indian police forces more technologically advanced and efficient while promoting the use of regional languages in official work. With over 2 million industry professionals already engaged with such platforms, the adoption demonstrates growing acceptance of AI-driven language tools in government operations.
