The Konkani Bhasha Mandal has objected to a circular issued by the Goa State Council of Educational Research and Training (GSCERT), which asked schools to read out excerpts from Swami Vivekananda's famous Chicago address in English, Hindi, and Marathi, but not in Konkani.

In a pressnote, the Mandal said the GSCERT could have approached it for a Konkani translation of the speech, and called the omission an *insult to the people of Goa*, given that Konkani is the state's official language. The circular had directed high schools and higher secondary schools across Goa to read the excerpts on September 11.

The Mandal has demanded that the GSCERT undertake immediate *course correction* by ensuring the speech is also circulated in Konkani, framing the issue as one of linguistic respect and adherence to the state's official language policy in educational institutions.
