K. J. Somaiya College of Arts and Commerce in Mumbai's Vidyavihar campus became a hub of linguistic and literary celebration as it marked *World Gujarati Mother Language Day* alongside the 193rd birth anniversary of the revered poet Veer Kavi Narmad.

Jointly organised by the college's Gujarati Sahitya Mandal and the Senior Citizens' Mandal, Ghatkopar, the event underscored the community's continuing commitment to preserving and celebrating the Gujarati language. Held at the Kalidas Auditorium, the programme opened with tributes to literary stalwarts who have shaped Gujarati letters over generations.

The highlight of the celebration was a series of musical renditions of classic Gujarati poetry and folk songs, led by artist Man Derasari, which brought the language's rhythmic and lyrical traditions to life for the audience. By weaving together literary homage and musical performance, the event reflected a broader effort to keep the Gujarati mother tongue vibrant among younger generations while honouring its literary pioneers like Narmad.
