Mandd Sobhann, a leading Konkani cultural organization, has announced plans for the *World Konkani Music Mega Convention*, aiming to establish a new Guinness World Record by performing over 5,400 songs across 12 days, 12 hours, and 12 minutes from November 3-15, 2025.
The event honors the late Eric Ozario, a prominent Konkani activist whose work elevated the language and culture. Building on their 2008 record for the longest singing marathon, this ambitious endeavor will host approximately 300 teams at Kalaangann, with participants from coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Goa, Mumbai, Gulf countries, Australia, and beyond.
Each team will perform 16-18 songs within one-hour slots, with Mangalurean Christian dialect performers selecting from 18 curated genres. The convention welcomes all Konkani dialects, including speakers from Christian, GSB, Kudmi, Kharvi, Siddi, and other communities, emphasizing inclusivity and cultural unity.
With an estimated cost of Rs 1.8 crore, this historic event celebrates the enduring spirit of the Konkani-speaking diaspora and their rich musical heritage.
