The Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) recently hosted a two-day workshop for Urdu authors in Hyderabad, focusing on maintaining quality standards in higher education textbooks.
Under the Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti (BBS) initiative, MANUU has been tasked with producing Urdu textbooks for higher education. Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, MANUU's Vice-Chancellor and BBS Urdu Nodal Officer, emphasized creating a "congenial environment for academic exchange" while noting that the Indian knowledge system represents "a blend of modernity and tradition."
The workshop featured technical sessions covering curriculum development, authorial integrity, digital tools, AI in instructional writing, and Urdu terminology standardization. Prof. Shugufta Shaheen highlighted MANUU's efforts to fill the gap in Urdu higher education following the discontinuation of Urdu-medium programs at Osmania University.
Academics from other institutions, including HCU and EFLU, praised MANUU's initiatives while stressing the importance of connecting Indian languages to foster brotherhood among diverse linguistic communities.
