Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), Jammu, has launched an important initiative to bridge artificial intelligence with regional language preservation. Under the Vibrant Advocacy for Advancement and Nurturing of Indian Languages (VAANI) scheme, the institute organized a two-day seminar focused on the intersection of AI and Dogri language empowerment.
The seminar brought together leading academicians and researchers to address a critical gap in language technology. Sessions covered foundational AI concepts explained through Dogri, natural language processing, speech recognition technologies, and strategies for digitizing folk literature and oral traditions. Speakers emphasized the importance of building Dogri text corpora and open datasets to enable future research and innovation.
A significant focus emerged on leveraging AI for cultural preservation - digitizing heritage materials and promoting Dogri narratives globally. The open-house discussion revealed growing interest in collaborative projects that would establish a Dogri-centered AI ecosystem. The second day's sessions promise to explore practical applications for regional development and outline pedagogical frameworks for advancing this technological integration.
