The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has launched the beta version of *Adi Vaani* mobile application on Android platforms, as announced by Union Minister Durgadas Uikey in the Lok Sabha. The innovative app enables real-time translation between Hindi, English, and multiple tribal languages through text and speech formats.
*Adi Vaani* offers comprehensive features including Text-to-Text, Speech-to-Text, Text-to-Speech, and Speech-to-Speech translation capabilities, along with Optical Character Recognition for digitizing tribal manuscripts. The platform also serves as a repository for bilingual dictionaries and provides health information in native languages.
Currently, the app supports Santali, Mundari, Bhili, and Gondi languages, with Garo and Kui nearing completion. The Ministry plans to include more tribal languages in the second phase and is exploring offline functionality to improve accessibility.
While the government is assessing the app's outreach and collecting user feedback, specific evaluation in Kerala has not been undertaken, with no state-specific consultations or impact studies conducted there.
