The New Indian Express
A new chapter in Malayalam typography has emerged with the launch of 'Thasrak', a font that draws inspiration from O.V. Vijayan's seminal novel *Khasakkinte Itihasam*. Unveiled by Burfy app at the Kerala Literature Festival on Kozhikode Beach, the font embodies the essence of the fictional village that forms the novel's setting.
The font was jointly inaugurated by calligraphy artist Narayanan Bhattathiri, brand communication expert Favour Francis, and writer Jamal Kochangadi, bringing together artistic and literary perspectives.
What distinguishes 'Thasrak' is its dual functionality - serving both aesthetic and practical purposes for the digital generation. The font maintains visual appeal while ensuring readability, making it suitable for eye-catching social media content as well as extended reading material.
This development represents a meaningful bridge between Malayalam's rich literary heritage and contemporary digital expression, allowing creators to communicate with visual elegance while preserving linguistic authenticity.
