In a significant educational initiative, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has launched reference books in Odia for Class XI science students, covering Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
This move aims to strengthen Odia-medium education by providing students access to quality academic resources in their mother tongue. The government will distribute 10-20 copies to libraries in each of the 700 higher secondary schools across the state, potentially benefiting nearly 120,000 students.
The Odia Study and Research Institute will oversee distribution of these materials, which will also be available in district headquarters bookstores. Plans are already underway to develop similar reference materials for Class XII science students.
At the launch ceremony at Lok Seva Bhawan, attended by ministers and education officials, the Chief Minister emphasized that this initiative reflects the state's commitment to inclusive, culturally rooted education while preserving Odisha's linguistic heritage by establishing Odia as a language capable of communicating scientific concepts.
