Punjabi University in Patiala launched its 12th Book Fair and Literary Festival, a major event dedicated to promoting regional languages and literary heritage. Vice-Chancellor Jagdeep Singh emphasized the festival's mission to strengthen connections between readers and knowledge while championing the Punjabi language despite digital age challenges.
The festival features 111 stalls, including 89 book stalls from publishers across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. The university's publication bureau alone showcases over 800 titles spanning Punjabi, Hindi, and English, reflecting the region's linguistic diversity. The inaugural ceremony included *Gurbani kirtan* performances and addresses by distinguished literary figures, including Sahitya Akademi awardee Professor Waryam Singh Sandhu.
The multi-day event will host academic sessions and literary discussions designed to celebrate linguistic heritage and foster reading culture among students, researchers, and the broader community.
