Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray has launched a pointed critique of RSS leader Mohan Bhagwat for describing language-based agitations as a "disease," defending regional linguistic identity as fundamental to Maharashtra's cultural fabric.

In statements shared on social media, Thackeray questioned why similar criticism wasn't directed at other states like Gujarat, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, where strong linguistic sentiments also exist. He suggested Bhagwat felt emboldened to target Maharashtra due to "weak political leadership" in the state.

Thackeray raised concerns about migration patterns, arguing that when people migrate to new regions but "reject the local culture" and "insult the local language," it naturally creates resentment. He also questioned the RSS's involvement in what he views as political positioning while claiming to be apolitical.

The MNS chief concluded by affirming his unwavering commitment to Marathi identity, stating that "linguistic and regional identities will continue to exist" and that Maharashtra would "rise up with fury" to defend its cultural heritage when necessary.
