In Mangaluru, a new initiative called *Rangataranga* is working to ensure that Konkani theatre, and by extension the Konkani language, continues to thrive among younger generations. The workshop series is the brainchild of actor and playwright Kasaragod Chinna, launched three months ago in association with the *Konkani Cultural Association*.
The initiative brings together young theatre enthusiasts who are eager to learn the craft of performance while simultaneously engaging deeply with Konkani as a spoken and literary language. Through structured workshops, participants are introduced to scriptwriting, dialogue delivery, and stagecraft, all rooted in Konkani idiom and expression.
By focusing on language as the medium of artistic expression, *Rangataranga* is helping address concerns about the shrinking use of Konkani in everyday and creative spaces. The collaboration with the Konkani Cultural Association lends institutional support to what is essentially a grassroots effort, ensuring that the language finds new voices and new stages, quite literally, among its youngest speakers and performers.
