The two-day African Regional Hindi Conference was inaugurated in Cairo on February 8, 2026, by Secretary Neena Malhotra from India's Ministry of External Affairs, bringing together scholars from seven African nations and Egypt.

Organized by the Indian Embassy in partnership with Ain Shams University, the conference centered on the theme "Hindi for Cultural Contact and Cooperation from the Ganges to the Nile," reflecting the *Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam* philosophy of considering the world as one family.

The gathering featured academics, writers, and Hindi enthusiasts discussing the language's growing global significance, its role in strengthening cultural connections, and its influence in international relations and Indian cinema.

Cairo's selection as the venue highlights the deep civilizational ties between India and Egypt. The Maulana Azad Indian Cultural Centre in Cairo has played a crucial role in promoting Hindi, with over 2,500 Egyptian students enrolling in Hindi courses over the past two decades.
