Assam's homegrown artificial intelligence initiative, *Aakhor AI*, is making waves at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi. Developed by Borno Labs Private Limited, the application holds the distinction of being the world's first speech-to-text tool specifically designed for the Assamese language.
The five-day summit, which opened on February 16 with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's inauguration, brings together leading AI organizations from India and ten other countries. Among over 300 pavilions showcasing global innovations, Aakhor AI stands out for its mission to preserve and promote Assamese and other Northeast regional languages.
Created by Kabyanil Talukdar and Indranil Talukdar, the platform offers voice-typing and creative-writing tools that enable students, entrepreneurs, and the general public to access advanced AI technology in their native language. The developers believe this initiative will boost productivity and creativity among Assamese speakers while helping the language thrive in the digital era.
By bridging the gap between cutting-edge technology and regional language accessibility, Aakhor AI represents a significant step toward linguistic inclusivity in India's AI landscape.
