The Kashmir Horizon

The Sahitya Akademi, in partnership with the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), has launched a two-day Dogri Poetry Festival at the Writers' Club in Jammu, showcasing the government's commitment to preserving regional languages.
The inaugural session featured addresses from several literary figures, including Khajur Singh Thakur who delivered the keynote speech on Dogri literature's evolution, and Om Goswami who emphasized nurturing emerging writers in his presidential address.
The festival organized two poetry reading sessions on the first day, chaired by Darshan Darshi and Vijay Verma respectively. Prominent poets including Balak Ram Bral, Bishan Singh Dardi, and others presented their works, demonstrating the richness of Dogri poetic traditions.
The event drew significant participation from writers, scholars, and literature enthusiasts, reflecting growing interest in regional literary preservation efforts. The collaboration between national and regional cultural institutions highlights the importance placed on maintaining India's diverse linguistic heritage.
